2048
How to play
- Moving: swipe on a phone or tablet, or use the arrow keys (or W, A, S, D) on a keyboard. All tiles slide as far as they can in that direction.
- Merging: when two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one tile worth their total. Two 8s make a 16.
- New tiles: after every move a new 2 (or sometimes a 4) appears in an empty square.
- Winning: make a 2048 tile to win. You can then keep playing for a bigger score.
- Game over: when the board is full and no tiles can merge, the game ends. You get three undos per game to rescue a bad move.
Tips
- Pick a corner and keep your biggest tile there.
- Try to use only two or three directions most of the time, so the big tile never gets pushed out of its corner.
- Build a chain of tiles in order along one edge, so merges cascade into the corner.
2048 is the simple, addictive sliding puzzle. Every move slides all the tiles on the board, and matching numbers merge into one. Keep doubling until you make the 2048 tile, then keep going for a high score.
