Family Feud Canada, hosted by comedian Gerry Dee, is back on CBC TV and CBC Gem from Monday, October 5, 2026. It is the show’s eighth season, and CBC’s fall schedule has it airing four nights a week. Here is how to watch it, and how families in Canada apply.
How to Watch
In Canada, Season 8 airs on CBC TV Monday to Thursday at 7:30 p.m. local time (8 p.m. in Newfoundland and Labrador), according to CBC’s fall schedule release, and streams on CBC Gem, the broadcaster’s free streaming service. CBC Gem works only in Canada, and we know of no official way to watch the show in the United States.
Who Can Apply
CBC’s official application page, last updated in September 2025 for the Season 8 casting call, set these rules:
- A family of five who all live permanently in Canada.
- Each must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or have permission to work in Canada.
- Contestants must be 18 or older (the page gives March 31, 2026 as the date that counts).
- Nobody on the team may be running for political office, or have been on more than two game shows in the last year.
- Anyone who has been on any version of Family Feud must wait 10 years from that appearance.
- Nobody may know or be related to anyone employed by FremantleMedia, Zone 3, CBC, Gerry Dee Productions, any affiliate that carries the show, or its sponsors.
How to Apply
- Fill in the application on CBC’s page and upload a family video with it. CBC suggests having every family member introduce themselves, saying which hometown you represent and what makes your family unique, and aiming for three to five minutes.
- That page said applications would stay open, with no official deadline. With Season 8 now on the air, check it for the next casting call before you apply.
- Auditions are virtual. If your application appeals to the producers, they book a call in which your family gathers by Zoom or phone, from home, to answer questions and play a mock game. There are no in-person auditions.
- CBC’s FAQ says the show tapes in Toronto. Questions go to familyfeud@cbc.ca.
Canadian Show or American Show?
The two are separate productions with separate applications. The American Family Feud, hosted by Steve Harvey, asks that each member be a U.S. citizen or have permission to work in the United States, and it has no age requirement (it suggests 15 and up). Our guide to getting on the American show has its rules, from its own audition page.
Studio Audience
CBC’s pages say nothing about audience tickets for the Toronto tapings, and we have not found a public offer. If one appears, we will add it here.
