How to Be a Family Feud Contestant
Family Feud, hosted by Steve Harvey, casts families of five through its audition page. The rules and steps below are the show’s own. The show tapes at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Who Can Apply
- Five family members related by blood, marriage or legal adoption.
- Each must be a U.S. citizen or have permission to work in the United States.
- There is no age requirement, but the show suggests contestants be 15 or older because of the nature of the questions.
- Nobody on the team may be running for political office or have been on more than two game shows in the last year.
- Anyone who has been on Family Feud before must wait 10 years from that appearance.
- Nobody on the team may know or be related to anyone employed by FremantleMedia, Debmar-Mercury, Wanderlust Productions, any affiliate that carries the show, or any Steve Harvey production, including The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation.
How to Apply
- Auditions are held online, over Zoom, on an ongoing basis. Click “Apply” on the audition page to start.
- An audition video is “highly recommended but not mandatory.” Paste a link to it in the application (YouTube, a public Facebook post, or a download link such as WeTransfer). The show suggests introducing every family member, saying where you are from, maybe playing a mock round, and aiming for three to five minutes.
- The page’s answer to “What are the producers looking for?” is “families who have energy, enthusiasm and an ability to play the game!”
- The show says it will be in touch within about four weeks with an update, and possibly to set up a Zoom call; families who are chosen get a phone call to book a tape date.
How to Prepare
The show tells families to stand out by telling it as much as they can, with photos and stories, and to smile and cheer each other on. Our how-to-play guide covers the rules, including Fast Money, and our full guide goes step by step.
A Word of Caution
A real casting call never charges a fee: anyone who asks for money to get you on a show is not the show. GameShows.com is a fan site: we do not cast any show, and comments on this page do not reach the producers.
